Chi Kwang Do Martial Art
Chi Kwang Do is a dynamic, innovative approach to martial arts training that has been developed to focus on areas of optimum health, self defense and personal development.
Based on traditional martial arts philosophy that emphasises the idea of personal and social development rather than sports competition; Chi Kwang Do classes provide a safe and non-competitive environment for students that helps them grow not only physically, but mentally too.
The development of good manners, courtesy, self-discipline, self-confidence, and good social adjustment can be considered primary objectives of this art, along with the development of practical self-defense skills.
Chi Kwang Do is based on three concepts:
> Movements must be natural, easy to learn and easy to remember.
> Movements must flow, with a circular motion in every punch and kick that uses the body's natural movement to focus energy.
> Movements must be practiced, repeatedly under gradually more realistic conditions.
Chi Kwang Do movements differ from those of other martial arts
> Dynamic stances, which are better for mobility and the ability to put body weight into a movement for optimum power.
> Economy of motion, which is achieved by keeping the hands up in a defensive position, not on hips or crossed.
> Sequential movement, all movements flow into one another naturally without wasted motion
What is Chi Kwang Do
As an art, Chi Kwang Do continues to evolve. As new information on health, fitness and improved training methods are discovered and developed they may be formally integrated to the Chi Kwang Do training system.
